Beshasha Washed Sidama

Mustafa Abakeno is a smallholder farmer with 18ha of land near Agaro in the Jimma Zone of Western Ethiopia. At an elevation of 2,040masl, his farm is planted with heirloom coffee varieties that highlight the very best of Ethiopia.

In 2018, he founded the Beshasha, a wet mill that processes coffee from his farm and from others in the surrounding area. Once harvested, farmers deliver cherry to Beshasha where they are then floated and sorted for quality, pulped, fermented in tanks for 8-12hrs, washed and then 50% dried under shade before final drying for 7-10 days in partial shade.
